Hotel Description
Half-timbered house
Since 1833, Hotel die Sonne in Frankenberg has been a place of hospitality – at that time even more oriented towards food and drink.
Since May 2007 you can also spend the night in style in the cosy houses with their sunny rooms after an extensive restoration of monuments – directly in the medieval old town, on the most beautiful square in town.
All around you will find picturesque half-timbered facades, the market square and the famous town hall with its 10 towers and the figures carved by Philipp Soldan – the eponym of our gourmet restaurant.
In the Schirn, the ground floor of the town hall, the weekly market still takes place today as it has for centuries.
Old brewery house
Until 1892 beer was brewed here. Today the ground floor is part of the banquet hall and the floors 2 to 4 hotel rooms.
City wine house
Since 1294 only the city wine tavern keeper in Frankenberg was allowed to serve wine. Today the Philipp Soldan is located in the basement, the Sonne Stuben on the ground floor. Hotel rooms are located on floors 1 to 4.
Community centre
Today, the ground floor houses the Bistro Philippo with cocktail bar and fireplace lounge, while floors 1 to 3 contain guest rooms.
